Ephesians 5, And What It Means Today

God’s Word Never Changes

Ephesians 5 is about practical and relative ways that apply to daily living. We need to learn why Ephesians 5 is important and how it applies to us in the 21st Century. Why? Because we have strayed off the path of God and how we should be living. Our society is lost in Sin!

Because of sin, we have same-sex marriages. Because of sin, we have violence in our streets. Because of sin, the Church is falling away, and so like the world, you can see little difference. Paul provides instructions and guidelines on sexual propriety, speech, drinking, and marriage.

Ephesians 5:5-7

God does not want us cut-off from everyone, not even sinners, but He does not want us as Christians to participate in fowl languages or coarse stories.

In Luke 5:30-32, Jesus’ advises his disciples to befriend sinners and lead them to the Church.

In Ephesians 5, Paul speaks against a lifestyle where people make excuses for bad behavior. Bad behavior can pollute the Church endangering the Unity and Purpose of the Church. People with bad behavior can lead God’s Church into darkness, opposing everything Christianity stands for and spread evil against the teachings of Jesus.

Luke 5:30-32

30. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

31. Jesus answered them, “It is not healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Ephesians 5:8

If we are filled with light, our actions should Reflect Faith, living above reproach. This means we should reflect on the goodness of God so that others may see good behavior in our life.

Jesus stressed this behavior when he was on earth.

Matthew 5:15, 16

15. Do not hide your light under a basket! Instead, please put it on a stand and let it shine for all.

16. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Ephesians 5:10-14, As Christ-followers, we must not keep quiet when we witness evil and darkness. Why? Because silence is interpreted as Approval. As followers of Christ, we must stand against bad behavior, exposing these evil deeds.

Ephesians 5:14

Paul is appealing to the Ephesians and telling them to wake up and realize the dangerous condition to which some of them were falling.

“Awake, O sleeper rise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”

This text is based on a hymn from the following Bible texts:

Isaiah 26:19 Song of Praise

Yet, we have this assurance: Those who belong to God will live; their bodies will rise again!

Those who sleep in the earth will rise and sing for joy!

For God’s light of life will fall like dew on his people in place of the dead!

51:17 Wake up, wake up, O Jerusalem! You have drunk enough from the cup of the Lord’s fury. You have drunk the cup of terror, tipping out its last drops.

52:1 Wake up, wake up, O Zion! Clothe yourselves with strength. Put on your beautiful clothes, the O holy city of Jerusalem, for unclean and godless people will no longer enter your gates.

60:1 Future Kingdom (Future Glory for Jerusalem)

Arise Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all the nations to see! For the glory of the Lord is shining upon you.”

Malachi 4:2, The Coming Day of Judgment

But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing to his wings. *” And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.”

Ephesians 5:15 and 16,

Paul shows excellent urgency in Eph. 5:15,16 to communicate with the people because of evil’s pervasiveness. Our world today is filled with evil much like during t Paul’s time. Today our streets are filled with anger and hostility, making it challenging to live by godly standards, act wisely, or do good.

Ephesian 18,

Paul is contrasting being drunk with being filled with the Holy Spirit. Getting drunk was the old way of getting high, but as a follower of Christ, you should be increased or drunk on the Holy Spirit. You do not need drugs or liquor to feel good. As Christ-followers, we never have to be concerned with the amount of the Holy Spirit we consume. We should and can submit ourselves to daily doses and draw continually on the power of the Holy Spirit.

Ephesian 20,

Ephesians 20 is about feelings and giving thanks. Somedays, we may find it difficult to praise God or give thanks. It is no surprise if you feel less like praising today; after all, we are in a Pandemic. You may have lost jobs or businesses and do not know when or if you will ever regain what has been lost.

But this should not prevent you from offering praise and thanksgiving! Because in all things, God works for our good if we love Him. God’s perfect love will see you through.

Have Faith!

Ephesian 21-22,

These verses are about the submission of wives and husbands to one another. This does not mean you should become a doormat. Christ does not want us to be doormats to anyone, not even Him. However, we are to bow and confess to God only.

Philippians 2:10 substantiates Jesus as the only one we must bow to and confess his name.  Christ is our example, and we should follow his example as He did when following his father’s will.

“At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the ground.”

In Ephesians 21-22, husbands and wives are called to submit. If both have a strong relationship with God, there is no problem in submission. Because both are concerned with the happiness of each other.

Ephesians 22-24,

Is about the submission of women, children, and slaves to the Head of Family. The only ones required to submit all their lives are women. And slaves until they are freed. Male children are submissive until they come of age.

Paul emphasizes Gal. 3:28, in the body of Christ, showing everyone is equal in the Church:

“There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female. For you are one in Christ Jesus.”

The Church family of Christ has chosen to submit to one another. This choice maintains respect, harmony, and love in the family of Christ.

Ephesians 22-24,

This scripture is not well accepted today. However, it does not make it incorrect. Scriptures tell us the man is the family’s spiritual head, and wives should be submissive to his leadership. A Christ-honoring wife will not undermine her husband’s leadership because if a husband or wife overrules and disrespects their mate, it creates disunity within the family.

Ephesians 22-28,

Paul tells women to submit to their husbands because of Roman law. The Roman law gave unlimited power to the head of the family, and many men were not accustomed to treating their wives with respect and love. But in the body of Christ, both males and females were required to love and respect one another.

Ephesians 25 – ff

Many saw the counsel of Paul as harmful because of the counsel he provided in 1 Cor. 7:32-38,

32.” I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord’s affairs—how he can please the Lord. 33. But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world—how he can please his wife—

 34. and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord’s affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about this world’s affairs—how she can please her husband. 35. I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.

36. If anyone is worried that he might not be acting honorably toward the virgin he is engaged to, and if his passions are too strong[a] and he feels he ought to marry, he should do as he wants. He is not sinning. They should get married. 37. But the man who has settled the matter in his own mind, who is under no compulsion but has control over his own will, and who has made up his mind not to marry the virgin—this man also does the right thing. 38. So then, he who marries the virgin does right, but he who does not marry her does better.”

Ephesians shows high regard for marriage. The text shows marriage is not a necessity or cure for lust but a picture of the relationship between Christ and the Church!

Paul’s counsel in Ephesians 5 and 1 Corinthians is different because times were different. There was persecution in Corinth at the time when he spoke. Still, in Ephesians, his counsel is a more biblical idea of a marriage where Paul sees the union of marriage as a living symbol and a unique relationship needing tender and self-sacrificing care.

Ephesians 25-30,

In this text, Paul spends more time telling wives what they must do to submit to their husbands than telling husbands what they must do for their wives.

Paul says men must do the following to submit to their wives:

  1. Be willing to sacrifice everything for her (wife).
  2.  Make her well-being of primary importance.
  3. Care for her as he cares for his own body.

These words were meant to alleviate women’s fear of submission to a man.

Ephesians 26-27,

Heb. 10:29,

“Think how much more terrible the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God and have treated the blood of the covenant as if it were common and unholy. Such people have insulted and engaged the Holy Spirit, who brings God’s mercy to his people.”

Heb. 13:12, “Jesus suffered and died outside the city gates to make his people holy by shedding his own blood.”

“Christ cleansed the Church through baptism, which is our entrance into the Church. It is the Word that cleanses us.”

John 17:17,

“Make them pure and holy by teaching them your words of truth.”

Titus 3:5,

“He (Jesus) saved us, not because of the good things we did, but because of his mercy.”

Ephesian 31-33,

The marriage merges two individuals with little that does not affect the other because marriage is Oneness.

Marriage means caring for one another (Your Spouse) as you care for yourself. Through marriage, we learn to anticipate your spouse’s needs, helping each other become their Best. The creation story tells us God’s Plan for his Creation; man and woman were to become husband and wife.

Genesis 2:24,

“This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”

Matthew 19:4-6,

4. “Haven’t you read the Scriptures?” They record that from the beginning, God made them male and female,

5. And he said, “This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”

6. Since they are no longer two but one, let no one separate them, for God has joined them together.

Praying this short article has or will open your eyes to the condition of our Nation and World if you are already a follower of Christ and have strayed. Find a Good God based Church and get your life together. God is still in the Business of Forgiving Sin!

3 -Things To Pray For America

America is on a collision course with no return. Unless God intervenes.
Here two examples of God’s interventions into the affairs of man:
1) Laban, Jacob’s father-in-law, broke their wage agreement. On his wedding night, Jacob had assumed he was marrying Rachel. But, he had married Laban’s eldest daughter, Leah, Rachael’s Sister, after becoming intoxicated. Laban then forced Jacob to work seven extra years before allowing him to marry Rachel.
However, the outcome of the Labor agreement between the two men was successful.
God’s intervention made Jacob more vital in the agreement.
Laban agreed all spotted goats were to belong to Jacob, and solids were to belong to him. The story belongs to God (Genesis, 31:9). God intervened in the agreement, causing the color of Jacob’s flocks to dominate over Laban’s. Another way to see it is God manipulated Jacobs’s animals (Genesis 31:12-13).
God was willing to override the laws of nature so that Jacob would be victorious against Laban.
2) God’s most outstanding intervention was Israel! Israel left Egypt without rebellion, negotiations, or any help from humanity. The departure was by the hand of God!
Why? Because God wanted Israel to leave Egypt, and this was reason enough!
I have mentioned these interventions because God is the same today as he was in biblical days.

God of scripture is still the same! Nothing has changed; it is humanity that has changed!

Church And The World

The Church is so much like the world. I can not see the difference.

The clergy is proclaiming to be gay and desiring same-sex marriages. How is this different from the world?

God’s Church is not as the world.

How can the church witness to the world if it is like the world, with Satan controlling most Churches, and many afraid to take a stand for God!

The Church is frozen in fear allowing the world to lead it astray by not taking a stand against ungodly scriptural teachings and behavior.

Paul often spoke against sinful behavior in the Church! As a follower of Christ, do you stand against false biblical teachings?

Why Not?

Because as a member of the clergy, you fear members will leave the congregation if you support and teach the Bible.

Let Them Go! It is better to have a few than the entire congregation lost when Jesus returns!

As Christians, When we see friends falling away, or backsliding, we need to speak out, take action against wayward family or friends. God wants us to take action, but we must first get our facts straight. We cannot teach or save anyone if we are lost without the truth!

We need old time praying Christians! The kind the old Churches had when services had no set time to end.

If the service lasted three hours, so be it, but prayer had no time limit, and people got saved, healed, and the devil rebuked! We need to get back to the old days when America loved God; he was first in the hearts and minds of most Americans!

Christians were not afraid to stand up for Jesus! But today, most Christians are too scared even to admit they know God! Afraid what people will say or think. Most have hidden their light under darkness, professing to be as the world and not Jesus!

Strong Christian Leaders For Our Nation

When Christians vote for our nation’s leaders, they should vote the God ticket, not party ticket!

Too many Satanic demons are in our governments, universities, and schools. Today’s youth have little or no chance to hear the “Truth” in American schools.

I remember when the school day began with the pledge of allegiance and prayer. But, today, it is against the Law to even mention the name of Jesus! Our leaders dismiss teachers going against their so-called system and publically ostracized them or remove godly teachers for their faith in God.

American Christians are standing around wringing their hands, saying, “I don’t know what to do. I can’t control who is chosen to office”.

Yes, you can! Get out and vote for a godly leader to lead our nation. Forget about Politics, its time to look for God in our leaders.

Pray! Get on your knees and ask God to help you make the right choice on who is leading America! Prayer is the most powerful tool in any Christians life!
Read the Bible to learn how prayer breaks strongholds, opens doors no man can open! A child of God is never helpless!

Even when the Israelites were afraid at Jericho, Joshua, their leader, reminded the people of the God they serve, who is more vital than any army or gate!

We have an active leader in the White House, though many citizens hate him. Yet, nations who once saw America as weak now respect us.

Strong leaders demand respect! It does not hurt if the President is secure and a believer in Jesus!

Americans need to support the President, not slander him!

Jesus left these words for his followers to live by when the world hated them. John 15:18 says,

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.”

Christianity is under attack! And the attacks have just begun. As Christians, we must hold fast to the Savior. Scripture tells us the times will not get better but more dangerous in the future.

The World Hates God’s Disciples

When Jesus left his disciples, he said,” he would always be with them and issued the following guidelines against haters in this world.
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own”.
You do not belong to the world. I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they would crush you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they would abide by yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both my Father and me. But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: “They hated me without reason” (John 18:18-25 NIV).

These words still ring true!

Americans hate our President without reason or cause. Much like they hate God and Jesus.

Christians should understand attractive leaders are not always led by God (Deu.13:1-3).

New ideas which sound good may be coming from the mouths of false prophets.

Clergy who lead you away from the Church has little or no respect for Jesus should be avoided, yet do not judge these individuals by what they do but by the teaching in God’s Word.

False prophets are found everywhere, even in the Church! As Christ-followers, we must guard against leaders who do not speak the truth or focus on God. Understand their words should be consistent with what you know about Jesus? If not, this is not the person to lead our nation.

America To Experience Spiritual Awakening

America needs to experience a spiritual awakening. Leaving behind people who proclaim to speak the truth yet are leading our nation away from God.

Our nation needs to be careful of new ideas sounding too good to be true. False prophets are leading the Church to join the bandwagon on abortion and the killing of innocents!

American needs to experience spiritual awakening against harming our children.
Recently, we have witnessed the killing of young children in violence on the streets of our nation.

Scripture teaches,
When men strive together and hit a pregnant woman so that her children come out, but there is no harm, the one who hit her shall surely be fined, as the woman’s husband shall impose on him, and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if there is harm, then you shall pay life for life, eye for an eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe” (Ex 21:22-25).

Be mindful of anyone whose ideas are against the truth of God!

Disciples of Christ need to stop listening to whispers of persuasion, even if they come from loved ones. Our love for relatives should never overcome our love for God! We should offer love and devotion to our God through studying the Bible; the words of God are “Truth!

We must know that God will be merciful to us if we obey his Word. Never allow the world to cause you to sin against God.

God should always be first in everything you do! The tempter may be whispering to you but be strong enough to overcome!

As Disciples of God, you are never helpless! Our nation needs to return to the teachings of Jesus. Our forefathers founded America on biblical principles. However, this does not mean they did everything right!

As a nation, based on a solid foundation of religious tenets, which today’s society is attempting to overthrow! But God is not dead and is still in control!

America will be judged by what it does or fails to do as chosen leaders of the world! God made America a beacon to other nations, but we have fallen away from God’s teachings.

Let us return before it is too late!

How to Deal With Disappointment in Church Leaders?

Are You Dealing With Disappointment In Your Church Leaders?

It is challenging to learn our church leaders are flawed and mere humans.

God’s word tells us,” In fear of the Lord there is strong confidence”(Proverbs 14:26).

The scriptures also tell us that our inner confidence and trust should be in God. We must understand never to have more confidence in man than God. Yet, this does not make it any easier when those we respect disappoint us. When Church leaders reveal their human qualities, it disillusions us.

Why?  Because we have come to trust and respect them. But, all is not lost; there is hope.

We are bombarded daily with messages on how to deal with disappointment or how to build confidence. Online, there are thousands of sites offering advice on how to dress, speak, and how we should feel.

However, we need to understand these suggestions are no solutions to the problems we face. Real confidence comes from the Lord. The Creator and sustainer of the world and everything in it. We should look to God for our needs, using our faith and trust in God alone.

You are  probably thinking, “I  have faith.” But is your faith in God strong enough to pass over the burden you carry or to rebuild your confidence in a leader who has disappointed you or caused your trust to wane?

Prayer and guidance are the best solutions. Why? Because God can comfort and heal your disappointment if you trust Him. God will cure the hurt you are feeling. God must judge of others, not you. He is fair and just without human emotion. God’s character, is anchored in love, and forgiveness, will guide you.

Unlike us, God is faithful, THE source of mercy, and grace from those who disappoint or disillusion us.

People Will Disappoint Us

People disappoint us, but God has promised never to disappoint or forsake us if we believe and trust him. He promises to be present and ready to help with the smallest of our concerns and disappointments. God will never judge our shortcomings the same as friends, family, and Church leaders. He understands our experiences and life difficulties, yet God does not judge us when we fail to live up to his expectations.

Look to the Lord for everything you need, no matter how simple or silly you feel the need maybe. God is your Provider. We should seek His assistance in financial need, healing, and every facet of our lives. He wants to be the primary source of everything we need! Even our disappointments.

Now, you may ask, “How do I seek God’s help?”

Seek God’s help through reading the Bible, the word of God. It is through scripture God speaks to us. Before making any decisions, You should seek God in everything you do. By keeping God first,  you will be to crown for your efforts and success.

Proverbs 3:6 tells us, seek God not only in healing and finances but in our hurts and disappointments, to reach out in prayer to our Lord and Savior.

From my own experiences, I have come to understand how disappointment in Church leaders can bring about disillusion and trust.

Having experienced both disillusionment and trust, I have learned to respect and accept church leaders as human. Capable of the same prejudices and shortcomings as me. So you can imagine my disappointment when asked by a well-respected church leader to join him in hatred against a denomination because of how they chose to worship.

The church leader informed me he would not allow the Church of teachings in my class syllabus to be approved unless I agreed with him about the Living Church of God. I resisted his scare tactics, feeling the leader was demanding I believe, and think as he did about the Living Church of God.

So, I chose to cancel the class, refusing to remove the links my syllabus, as he had suggested. Because my research was scriptural, contextual, and God’s word. My Church leader was the problem.

Greatly disappointed after the brief encounter with a man I had come to respect and admire left me with a decision that required much thought. So when I say, “Place God first in everything you do, even in choosing where you worship,” Remember, leaders of the Church are human with human frailties and prejudices, the same as the world.

When you encounter leaders with shortcomings, prayer and forgiveness are God’s tools to overcome disillusionment and disappointment. You must not allow hurt to overwhelm you or give up on serving God. Take time away from the situation to pray and seek God, asking that your heart be renewed to forgiveness. Also, ask God to show you if there is anything you did to cause the misunderstanding and be willing to accept the answer if the issue is with YOU!

Three Ways to Overcome Disappointment
Sometimes it is best to distance yourself from the situation and the person. Why? These three reasons list below will assist you in understanding:

1. Distance and time help with the healing process and allow you time to accept and understand what you have experienced.

2. The time taken will enable you to overcome disappointment and become comfortable with the realization that church leaders have human frailties, and prejudices. Allowing you to accept the shortcomings through prayer and fasting.

After spending time with God in prayer and fasting He will provide you the strength to overcome the hurt and disappointment. Enabling you to receive the situation and willingness to understand the case and person or persons involved. Once you have identified the problem, you can begin the healing process.

Note: I firmly advise you not to “Church Hop”! Why? Because the problem is not with the entire Church, the problem may lie with the leader (s) and their inhumanity, not the congregation. If you need time to process what has occurred, Take It!

3. Use your disappointment to learn and grow! Applaud your efforts, for the risk of allowing yourself to become vulnerable to hurt. Turn your frustration into an opportunity to overcome the obstacle, to regain confidence, understanding, and acceptance, that no one is without faults or prejudices, even You!

As Christins, the Bible is clear on the “forgiveness of those who have wronged or disappointed us.” Remember, it is not the person whose peace we are responsible for, but it is our unity of mind we are accountable to achieve, then forgiveness and love will follow.

I wish I could say I fully accomplished step 3. I have yet to complete this problematic step and still working on regaining trust and confidence in church leaders. Nevertheless, I have come to respect my former church leader, understanding and accepting him as only human.
Remember, God will never leave you (Hebrew 13:5 KJV), and your confidence will return.

Significance of Following Jesus

Jesus chose the disciples. But at what cost was it to become a follower of Jesus?
When Jesus called the twelve, he did not ask them to volunteer; but simply drafted them into service to serve. Yet, he did not force them. Jesus never forces anyone.

The Cost of Following Christ

There will always be opposition to following Christ. Some of the opposition will be natural pressure. But some curiosity seekers will need to hear the truth to understand why you have chosen Christ over the world.
These scriptures from  Matthew may help.

  • Government pressure or threats (10:18-19,26)
  • Religious People (10:17) may oppose you because of fear and worry of physical harm (1:28) or public ridicule (10:22).
  • Family (10:21) rejection or loved ones (10:34-37).

The truth from Matthew (10:26,28,32 and 31) resolves any opposition.

How Will You Respond

What if Jesus calls you into service? How will you respond?

Jesus calls people from all walks of life. Politicians, ordinary and educated individuals. He is not a snob and invites everyone to serve and carry the message of God.

The first followers had no impressive credentials because there were and is none.

Today many believe only certain people fit into the service of Jesus, but that could not be further from the truth. God can use YOU, no matter how insignificant you appear.

Jesus employs ordinary people to do important things!

If Jesus chooses you to serve, do not fail to respond. You will be among outstanding men and women who have served or serving as followers of Christ.

Do you feel small insignificant, or useless?  You can do extraordinary work with the power of the Holy Spirit within you.

Men like Bartholomew, Nathaniel, and Thaddeus were not exceptional men but did extraordinary work in Jesus’s service (John 1:45-51).
Simon, a Zealot, had been a radical political worker, but when Jesus called him to serve, Simon responded and became a disciple of Jesus.

In The Service of Jesus

When Jesus drafted the disciples, he did not send them to the gentiles but Jews.
Why Jews, not Gentiles or Samaritans?

Let me began by defining who a Gentile is. A gentile is anyone that is not a Jew.

The Samaritans were the result of intermarriages between Jews and Gentiles after the OT captives (2 Kings 17:24). But it was not because of who these people were; it was because Jesus came first to the Jews (Romans 1:16). God chose the Jews to share their Jewish King and Messiah with the world as the risen King and Son of God throughout the Roman Empire!

Scriptures teach that God’s message of salvation is for all earth’s peoples, no matter sex, race, or nationality!

These scriptures clarify the purpose and reasons for giving the message to the Jews (Gen. 12:3, Isa. 25:6;56:3-7; Micah.41:11; Acts 10:34,35, Romans 3:29, Gal. 3:28) and will help you understand why God chose the Jews as His messengers.

The Jewish people had been awaiting the coming of their Messiah for many years! When Jesus arrived, they refused to accept him as the long-awaited Messiah. After all, they were expecting a Messiah of war.

They had been under Roman rulers for many years and wanted freedom from their military and political law. So hey wanted a Messiah of action!

Jesus was not what they expected. Many Jews were bitterly disappointed with the meek, mild, and non-warrior. His teachings of a coming kingdom and the afterlife were not what the Jews were expecting or needed. They wanted the glory days of Solomon and David, not the talk of a Spiritual Kingdom!

Jesus had come from heaven to earth to give his life so we would be saved and have everlasting life. He gave humanity promises of eternal life with Him as their Savior, with the commitment that he would live in the hearts of his followers. But anyone who was not His followers would be destroyed, but God’s people would live in peace!

Jesus gave his disciples’ principles to follow, the same guides we have today. Followers of Christ are to minister to the world by the same principles in biblical days!
Our heavenly Father has showered us with blessings. As followers, we must show generosity and love to those who do not understand or know the Messiah!

Jesus told his disciples to minister to the people, and they would take care of them.

Jesus meant the disciples could expect food and shelter for the services they offered the people.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we should give generously for the blessing provided to us by pastors and teachers serving God (1 Cor. 9:9,10; 1 Tim. 5:17).

When  Jesus sent the disciples out, he told them not to take money, extra shoes, walking sticks, or bags; the people would provide for their needs. If not, they should shake the dust off their feet and leave the town.

Jews often shook the earth from their feet to show their separation from Jews who reject the Messiah! Jesus’ instructions not to carry material possessions were so as not to hamper their work.

Receptive to the Teachings of Jesus

The disciples destroyed the cities, not susceptible to their teachings. Cities like Sodom and Gomorrah were demolished for their wickedness by fire from heaven (Gen. 19:24,25).

Anyone today rejecting the Good News will be worse off when Jesus returns than the wicked people of Biblical days.

The Pharisees were Jews who spoke against the teachings of Jesus and opposed him.
Jesus was the disciples only hope against the Pharisees because they were wicked though claim to be godly Priest in the service of the Messiah. But the disciples knew Jesus was their protector and had no fear.

There will be times when you may face hostility much as the disciples did in preaching the Good News, but you must not allow this to prevent you from teaching the Good News! “God has not given us a spirit of fear” (2 Tim 1:7 KJV).

Even when experiencing hardships, the disciples never gave up or ended their teachings. When courts of government stood against them, the disciples remain steadfast, knowing their strength and protection was not of this world but in their Savior!

Jesus had told the disciples to keep teaching the Good News (Matt. 10:19,20)! Not to worry about defense for when they spoke, the words would not be their own but the Holy Spirit’s!

Jesus advised his followers to always be prepared,  to provide thoughtful statements. Jesus meant the disciples and his followers must prepare and never stop making preparations!

Followers of Jesus must endure, but this does not mean staying to the end. Sustaining against persecution is not the way to be saved but is evidence of being fully committed to Jesus!

Persistence is not the means of earning salvation; it is the by-product of true devotion to life!

Jesus warned the disciples about the perils of being his followers. He even warned them about premature martyrdom, and advised them to leave before their prosecution became too great!

If you find your prosecutors are becoming too numerous, go elsewhere. There is plenty of work to be done, and will not finish until Jesus returns but will continue until the world understands the true identity of Jesus (Roman 14:9-12;24:14).

Satan, the prince of demons, is in control of this world, waging war against the followers of Jesus. Much like when the Pharisees accused Jesus of using the power of Beelzebub to perform miracles.

Sound is sometimes labeled as dangerous to make followers of Christ appear like their enemy, Satan! But followers who remain strong will be vindicated when Jesus returns.

Jesus said, “God is aware of everything that happens to sparrows.”
You are far more valuable to God than a sparrow”.
God places such value on you because he created us in his image, and the Holy Spirit dwells within you.

Do not allow the wear and tear of daily life to break you! For followers of Christ who stand up despite trouble will undoubtedly have lasting value in the Kingdom of God!
Conflict and disagreement will arise, but it will not overcome you as a follower of the Son of Man, Jesus Christ!

Your Mission

Christ has called you to a mission, not a life of comfort or tranquility. Love of family and friends is essential. However, not as crucial as your work for Jesus!
Taking up your cross and following Him means being willing to publicly identify him as your Lord and Savior, forsaking everything for him!

As a member of the Christian community, you may become separated but do not become discouraged.

Jesus was not discouraged, disobedient, or afraid of conflict! He showed his presence and demanded a decision. If Jesus was worried, he never showed fear. Remember, because you are a follower of Jesus, war will eventually arise no matter how you try to prevent the occurrence.

Take up your cross and follow Jesus’ values, morals, and goals; you will become set apart from the world.  As a Christ-follower, never neglect your family or friends, even when they are against you. Hold firm to your commitment to God; it is essential in your life as a follower of Jesus.

Positive and Negative Statements

I will share a verse that can be both positive and negative but yet, is the truth.

If you cling to your life, you will lose it, but if you give it up for me, you will find it”(Matt. 10:39).

The verse is saying, If we cling to this life, we forfeit the best from Christ in this life and the kingdom. The more we value our life and its so-called reward, we cannot live as Christ intended. If you appreciate the power, popularity, financial gains, and security, you will come up empty. For these things are of little value in the Kingdom of God!

You can be free if you work for eternal life and not earthly gains. Follow Christ! Release your hold on the world, enjoy the benefits of following Christ.

Jesus is Eternal and always Significant.

Too many Christians are caught up in society’s definition of what believers ought to think, say, look like, and act. Christians need to come back to the Bible and what Jesus says about how we should live

The Secret Christ Of Consciousness?

What is Christ Consciousness?

Before we begin to discuss what Christ Consciousness is, we need to understand who, what and why we desire to become more Christ Conscious. We need to answer several vital questions. So let’s begin here.

Who Is Christ?

Who is Christ? And What is Christ Consciousness? These questions are always in the minds of people living in a world of Spirituality.

MY ANSWER, to these and other questions, is,

Firstly, Christ is a historical figure and Savior of Christianity. Secondly, Christ is an English term for Khritos, a Greek word meaning the anointed one or Hebrew, known as the Messiah.

Concept of Christ Consciousness

Christ Consciousness does not belong to any particular religious orientation or sect. This is the reason, Christ Consciousness is defined as a state of consciousness. Through universal awareness, Christ Consciousness is the transformation into higher knowledge.

Christ Consciousness is also a state of being in where the soul transforms and awakens to its Highest Consciousness. It is the desire of every human to achieve, by reaching a conscious state of mind, and awakening, though transformation may take a long process, possibly years.

The key to transformation is learning and growing, keeping memories at full awareness and be inspired by the thought of an open mind leading to new wisdom and knowledge.

Christ Consciousness does not have any relation to the personality of Jesus Christ. As mentioned earlier, it is a state of mind that connects with the highest power, which understands omnipresent and universal forces and how they exist everywhere.
The term Christ Consciousness does not necessarily affiliate with any religious belief. It is only called Christ Consciousness because of the spiritual elevation of Jesus Christ when He was alive. Anyone can be Christ Conscious if they are willing to learn the concept.

Religious Masters

The Majority of religious Masters already walk the path of light, love, harmony, bliss, and peace, which is generally followed by a period of suffering and becomes enlightened after their journey.
There is nothing new or different in any religion. It is a universal concept in many groups. All people can be enlightened and awakened if they open their minds to the possibilities available to them. Then, Christ Consciousness is born.

How Is Consciousness Born?

All people are born with consciousness. It flows in every human and can be developed and achieved by anyone willing to open their mind to the Holy Spirit.
Humans never become enlightened if they keep their minds closed to Spirituality and unbelief of the Spiritual world of Jesus Christ.
Whether you seek the assistance of mentors or so-called religious Gurus, your primary goal is to become more compassionate, loving, patient, understanding, tolerant, content, and forgiving, following the path of conscious thinking.

Where Does Spiritual Growth Begin?

Spiritual growth is achieved by aligning your inner feelings and thoughts with those of Jesus. But before you can align your thinking, you must become aware and understand you are a unique creation of God.
You must acknowledge the existence of a Divine Mind, which will awaken Christ Consciousness within, enabling you to become more enlightened about the Spiritual world.

Many followers of Christ encounter conflicts during the process of awakening. Disputes or issues are not as unusual as one may think as your mind adjusts to new ways of thinking.
The mind of every human is conditioned from birth to think logically and rationally. Your conscious mind is trained to look at the commercial value of what it sees.

The Holy Spirit is not material but spiritual, which will help you understand the meaning of religion. Clear your mind of old beliefs, which may be difficult but critical in becoming successful in Christ Consciousness.
Walking the path of Christ Consciousness is not an easy path and cannot be accomplished alone. You must look to the Holy Spirit for growth and understanding when undertaking this arduous journey.

Let me share my experience in seeking to reach Christ Consciousness. You will never attain Christ Consciousness without prayer and meditation. You need to open your mind and spirit to God’s will and be willing to follow.
Christ is the author and finisher of all things, even our Christ Consciousness. As Christians, we can accomplish nothing without God’s Inspirational leadership. You must give up and let go so God can lead.

Scriptures To Guide You:
  • God will show me the path of life. (Psalm 16:11)
  • God will instruct me and teach me in the way I should go. He will guide me with His eye. (Psalm 32:8)
  • The Lord orders my steps. (Psalm 37:23)
  • Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105)
  • I trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not on my understanding. In all my ways, I acknowledge Him, and He directs my paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Allowing God to lead will not come easy to many of us. I once believed there was only one way, My Way.

How to Get Out Of Your Way?

  To become a better Christian, you have to get out of your way, by allowing God to take the wheel, allowing him to drive. Here is a scripture that may help in your journey to becoming Christ Conscious;

*I shall hear a word behind me, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever I turn to the right or the left. (Isaiah 30:21)

Before closing, let me recommend reading your Bible on this journey to Christ Consciousness. Having a friend on your drive is highly recommended.

  Good luck!

Fear of Exclusion

Inclusion is the new buzz word of the 21st Century. Which do you identify with, Exclusion or Inclusion?

Nearly everyone if given would choose inclusion. But there will always be someone who refuses to accept you as an equal and intentionally overlook individuals they feel are beneath them. Having experienced the hurt of exclusion I understand the pain of being left out or ignored.

Overcoming Exclusion

I will share my experience with those of you reading this post and hopefully you will understand you are not alone.

I will set the scene for the unpleasant occurrence. If you have ever been employed in an office, you may understand the experience is not always pleasant.
There is always a pecking order!

Some of your fellow workers may be control freaks seeking to make everyone feel less or unworthy.

These individuals like Satan roam throughout the office attempting to steal joy or cause confusion, as they interrupt daily work routines.

Before sharing my experience, I feel a need to explain why bossy, pushy people react as they do in the workplace.

Many disruptive people are unhappy in their lives, so they seek others to fill the emptiness or make them feel important.

So it is OK to feel down or react to exclusion negatively, but never lose control of who you are. If you belong to Jesus, it does not matter what others think of you, though the concept and actions of not becoming angry or disillusioned are not unexpected!

However, never allow disruptive co-workers to see you suffer because of their bad behavior. Sometimes it is better to pretend you did not hear or understand what was happening.

Why? Because disruptive, bossy individuals thrive on hurting others! Never give them the weapon they need to disrupt your life. Spend time praying not getting even!

Prayer is the best and only place a Believer should be in times of discord. God is only a prayer away. Prayer opens doors no man can open. Prayer is a safe refuge Christian, because in the presence of the Lord no one in this world can harm you!

I know you are probably saying, “The world can hurt me.” But it is your body that can be tortured but never your soul, this belongs to the heavenly Father. If you trust God to remove the pain and choose to walk in love the disrupted will never touch who you really are because they will never understand how you can show kindness and love when they are trying to destroy you!

This scripture says it all and provides the power of love to anyone who will call upon the Word and Power of the Lord in times of discord.

The words from Luke will keep secure you in the presence of an enemy!

“But I tell you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them. …(Luke 6:27-36 ESV)

Three Exclusions

My experience of being intentionally overlooked was a luncheon invitation sent to everyone in the office except me. After everyone invited had accepted, I was sent a separate message stating I had been excluded from the first email.

I knew these words were not truthful. Yet, as a follower of Christ I listen to the false sorrowful explanation of how I had been left off the original emailing.

Sometimes the best reaction is no reaction, and that is the road I decided to take in dealing with the exclusion.

Not everyone in the office felt my position on the staff made me less or, beneath anyone. Though I have the same credentials as every member on my team. I am equal in every way accept job description.

The second time was Boss Appreciate Day. Members of my team purchased a card and gift for the Director, but conveniently left me out, again and I was informed after the fact! I offered to chip in on the present and ticket but was told it was not necessary. I could just sign the card.

Then again I was excluded from the staff picture!

Anger is not the only emotion I felt at being overlooked numerous times from office activities or made to feel I did not belong.

You are probably saying, “Why not tell them how you feel?” Well, it is not easy to do when you know the snub was no accident! There were times I had voiced my suspicions of being overlooked, but the reply was always the same. ” I am sorry. I didn’t know you felt that way. It was not intentional.”

All the while knowing it was meant to make me feel what I was feeling.

Why people lie about their intentions to hurt others is beyond me. It’s easier, to tell the truth than hold back laughter when confronted.

Christians Standalone

Working in an office of non-believers can be difficult if you are the only Christian. So I was an acquired taste. Though the staff attended Church during the week they lived as the world not for God. I made every effort not to judge or make them feel ashamed of the way they chose to live.

Not everyone was in on the game. But you would be surprised at the two people who were causing the disruption!

 The disrupter were African-American!

Don’t be because as a race African-Americans are the most likely to be anti-social to their own race.

Some blame slavery, but I do not. We must stop blaming slavery for our lack of respect for other Blacks and everything else that is not as we believe it should be.

I have no solution to the problem, other than some blacks, though not all, need to feel as if they are in control of something in American society. So they look down on people they should be helping.

I do not understand why as a race some blacks feel the need to make other blacks feel inferior. Being discriminated by one’s race is nothing new when it comes to Blacks.
Few distinguished blacks offer helpi to the less fortunate in their race. Most believe if they made it so can everyone else.

I often ask, what if God felt this way about humanity. Would He have sent his only Son to die for people who should be able to be obedient to Covenants they promised to keep?

I think not!

It is good God is not like humanity, in this case, blacks or we would all be headed to hell because we could not live by God’s Covenent.

I feel so much better having gotten this off my chest! Writing helps me relieve stress and see people as they are, not knowing any better. I can always discern when people are good or bad. I am correct 98.9% of the time, and few surprise me.

After speaking with my supervisor early on about the two women who had joined the team. She said she was sure if they knew how I felt they would be apologetic. Yet, I knew better because I know my people.

I would never paint all blacks with the same brush or make a bold statement such as, “All African-Americans” set out to make other blacks feel inferior. But you would be surprised at the number whose agenda is just that, to exclude and hurt others within their race. I am sure they have their reasons, but it does not make it right to harm others!

All humanity was created by God

The Creator of everything loves black, white, gentile and jew. It matters not. We should work to be more like Jesus and less like humans.

Thinking Of Others

I have shared painful times in my life dealing with exclusion. Though the experience was not based in any fear I suffer, yet it was painful. Had it not been for prayer I would not have made it through. I was able to forgive and see the persons who caused me pain with different eyes.

Fear of Exclusion is deeply rooted in the world today! Everyone is looking for something to make them feel better, but sin is the root of this great evil and prayer is the key!

I am going to recommend something that may be a little radical for the times in which are living.

But here it goes;

Pray, Study the Bible and Forgive!

Here is a Bible verses to get you started:

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on it is own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ESV).

I chose this Bible verse because when Jeusu was on earth he always teached on LOVE, the foundation of his ministry.

Remember, “Fear is from Satan, not God!” Break the bonds of fear from exclusion and put on the freedom of inclusion.

God loves you.

Amos, Prophet or Shepherd?

The world as in the time of Amos is standing on religious ceremony and political correctness. Most followers of Jesus worship God with little or no substance. We express and praise with hollow words that lack foundation. Many Christians treat God as they do friends and family.

Oppress The Poor

Many Christians like the world oppress the poor and worship the wealthy.

Amos, a devoted man of God, preached on the scathing anger and condemnation of God for the Israelites. God condemned the chosen nation as he condemns our country today. America is the same as the Israelites were in the northern and southern kingdoms during 760 – 750 B.C.

Amos spoke boldly for the Lord against religious leaders and was not intimidated. He was confident in the words God had given him to deliver his people. He spoke of God’s righteousness and goodness without fear or intimidation from kings or priests.

Amos spoke of the falling away of Israel and lack of love for their God. He shared visions of the Israelites impending judgment from God (1:1, 2:16, 7:1, and 9:15). Amos did not fail to reveal the reasons for God’s judgment on Israel (3:1, 6:14) for God never punishes without warning because he is a just God.

People in today’s world are much like in the days of Amos. Many of the same conditions exist today. As True Believers, (a phrase I have chosen to use because not everyone confessing to being a Christian is a follower of Christ). True Believers, must stand against injustice and speak boldly for the Lord, as Amos did.

God is holding each of us accountable for the poor, disenfranchised and those who do not know his name or mercy.

You may ask why people do not know God or his Son. It is because we live in a world where most have rejected God and his Son, Jesus.

God is holding every nation accountable for their sins and will act as judge and jury over humanity when Jesus returns for His Church.

Even though Amos was not a prophet, he was obedient and became a messenger of God, as we all should.

God is Supreme and controls all nations. Everyone is accountable to God, even America.

It is not popular among most nations in the 21st Century to accept God as the author and finisher of all things, but man is nothing without God. It is this rejection that has brought us to our present impending judgment, now on the doorstep of America!

America’s Crimes

You may ask what are America’s crimes? The following are but a few of many crimes America is guilty. Many Americans do not even consider these to be crimes against God because the world’s values are different from God’s.

  • America is guilty of shedding innocent blood by abortions.  Thousands of innocent unborn children are being killed before they have had a chance to live.
  • Neglecting the poor and disfranchised.
  • Rejecting God and his Son by removing them from our schools and society.
  • America is guilty of welcoming homosexuality into pulpits of our church and nation.

All these crimes are against God’s teachings on how we as followers of Jesus should be living as a nation built on a foundation of Biblical principles.

Americans need to wake up! Return to God, ask his forgiveness so we might escape his impending judgment, which is closer than most can imagine

Prayer Leads To Understanding

Much was revealed to me in a time of prayer as I studied the Book of Amos. Something stirred within my Spirit stirred and has led me to share this with you. I feel it is something you need to be made aware. “The coming of the Lord’s judgment on our nation.”

No, I did not experience visions or dreams. The Lord revelations came through reading, studying and contextualization of God’s word.

We are no different from people during the time of Amos because we are still disobedient to God. It is my firm belief Christians in the 21st Century do more questioning than actual work for God.

Let me explain, using myself as an example. God spoke to me many times of what I should be doing, but I chose to be disobedient doing what I desire.

Before you judge me can you confirm the voice of God has not directed you to do something other than what is in your heart?

Have you knowingly done what you desired instead of what God wants for your life? When a still small voice speaks, what have you done?

Ignoring The Small Voice

Amos did not ignore God’s calling he heard and obeyed without question.

We must learn to listen to the still small voice within and obey the calling of our heavenly Father. We must speak words of kindness to all that are lost or in need.

God is always speaking to us, even when we refuse to hear what is being said.

Stop! Listen to the Father before it is too late. Jesus is coming soon!

Denial Is Futile

  • What will you say when asked,
  • “Why did you reject my Son?”
  • “ Why did you not honor my name?”
  • “Why did you not feed the hungry and homeless?”
  • “Why did you deny me as the Creator of all things?”

How will you answer these questions?

God will not ask about the sins of others. He is only concerned about how YOU use the life he has given you.

We are responsible for what we do and say. You have no control over others, only your actions will be in question.

God is just and loving, but can not be in the presence of sin because of His holiness. We must be judged for what we have done or failed to do.

Are you sleeping or awake, desiring God’s love or the love of the world?

His passion for us is without condition. It is for this reason, Jesus, was sent to dwell among us as a man, yet many have rejected the Savior of the world, God’s only Son!

Choose What’s Important

Reject the world and choose God! The world offers useless things that fade. But, “The word of the Lord endures forever” (1 Peter 1:25).

Return to God. Give Jesus your heart. Stop chasing the world, for it will end. But God is eternal. It is this eternal happiness we should long for in the brief life God has graciously granted us. If you offer your life in service and obedience, the greatest gift is yet to come.

Was Amos Prophet or Shepherd?

Amos was no prophet when the Lord called him to deliver his message to the Israelites. Amos was a shepherd, the lowest of all professions in Israel and despised by many. But he accepted the call and became a messenger from God.

All Christians are called to make disciples and carry the word of God to enlighten the world!

I am working to be like Amos, a voice for the “Good Shepherd,” Jesus Christ.

Who are you working for in this life? Will you be among those who run and hide when the Son of Man returns?

Secrets to Understanding Media (Read the Scriptures)

(The video is from youtube)

Okay, news reporters say, “There were two shooters in the Las Vegas mascara!”

What is the truth?

Can you trust the News Reports?

I think not!

The above video depicts the loss of family members in a senseless shooting! The victims in the video left home hoping for an enjoyable Concert but lost their lives because of evil in our world.

I am guessing the victims in this video were innocent! What is the world coming to when innocent citizens cannot attend a Concert and return to the comfort and safety of their families!

But the saddest part is media not revealing the truth but lies because of the hate-mongering of an individual who is hated but had nothing to do with the events surrounding the death of these innocent people.

We are in a sad state of affairs when we can no longer trust our reported News on what is happening in the world!

It’s like I went to bed and awoke to a strange new world!

When people you trust lie to your face when reporting the News, there is no place left to turn.

As a nation, we have come to believe and rely on our News. However, It has become so filled with lies most people no longer listen or trust what is reported, fearing they will not hear the truth!

Everything happening in the world has been prophesied long ago in scripture.

Biblical Events

The Bible describes events and conditions that would mark “the conclusion of the [current] system of things,” or “the end of the world.” (Matthew 24:3; King James Version) The Bible calls this period “the last days” and the “time of the end,” or “end times.” (2 Timothy 3:1; Daniel 8:19; Easy-to-Read Version) The following are some outstanding features of last-days, or end-times, prophecies:

  • War on a large scale.—Matthew 24:7; Revelation 6:4.
  • Famine.—Matthew 24:7; Revelation 6:5, 6.
  • Great earthquakes.—Luke 21:11.
  • Pestilences, or epidemics of “terrible diseases.”—Luke 21:11, Contemporary English Version.
  • An increase of crime.—Matthew 24:12.
  • Ruining of the earth by mankind.—Revelation 11:18.
  • Deterioration of people’s attitudes, as shown by many who are “unthankful, disloyal. Not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without the love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride.”—2 Timothy 3:1-4.
  • Breakdown of the family, with people who have “no natural affection” and children who are “disobedient to parents.”—2 Timothy 3:2, 3.
  • Love of God growing cold in most people.—Matthew 24:12.
  • Noteworthy displays of religious hypocrisy.—2 Timothy 3:5.
  • Increased understanding of Bible prophecies, including those related to the last days.—Daniel 12:4.
  • The global preaching of the good news of the Kingdom.—Matthew 24:14.
  • Widespread apathy and even ridicule toward the evidence of the approaching end.—Matthew 24:37-39; 2 Peter 3:3, 4.
  • The simultaneous fulfillment of all these prophecies, not just a few or even most of them.—Matthew 24:33.

Attitude Of Humanity

People are acting as if there is no end to time! The world is no longer living as God commands. Everyone is doing their own thing making for an exciting but dangerous world.

Bible No Longer Cornerstone Of American Society

The Bible was once the cornerstone of American society. However, it is not clear if Christians and unbelievers care or understand God’s laws are being ignored.

Everyone is doing what feels right with no consideration for what God’s word tells us is the right way to live.

Many people in the 21st Century have no respect for the Creator because of a lack of solid foundation in the home.

Proverbs 22:6 says,” Train up a child in the way he should go;

even when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

If there is no foundation, there is nothing to build on. Hence, the reason why the world is on a collision course to hell.

Satan is ruling the world, setting it on a path of destruction. Families offer less stable environments leading to events things occur like Las Vegas.

Leaving the world wringing their hands moaning and crying asking how could such a thing happen?

Fake News

Having a strong foundation does not mean evil things will not happen, but with God as the foundation, we would not have to worry about Fake News or feel helpless in the face of these events.

Men and women of God would understand that these events must happen but not to fear. People of God need to ask that the truth is revealed, even when it is not. Christians should never worry about Fake News!

Fake News is built on a foundation of lies and hatred! Yet, the world has people who feel entitled to disrespect the rights of others. So, they spew hatred against our leaders to the public who refuse to read, or fact checks the information!

Innocents Persecuted

The people killed in the Vegas attacks were innocent. None were expecting to lose their lives when they attended the annual concert.

Taking the life of another is against the commandment of God. Every life is precious.

But even after the loss of lives, News Reporters showed little respect for the dead or their loved ones, using the incident as a political springboard to attack President Trump’s and his followers!

What kind of people would do such a thing?

It should not matter if the victims were Democrat or Republican! People lost their lives, and families were destroyed.

As a nation, we should have been consoling families not accusing them of being affiliated with the wrong political party!

It is my firm belief that as a nation we should have fallen to our knees in respect of the Creator, not the flag or political party!

As a nation, we need to get back to the principles which America was established, God!

It is my firm belief when we once again respect God our country will prosper and become a great nation. We must end the hate!

God loves everyone even the sinner!

Remove sexual sin from our nation and live as God ordained. We must not judge others, leaving God to act as judge, for none is without sin.

News Reporters, report the truth to the people! Leave petty issues off the table, placing God above everything!

But if we refuse to change or our nation risks losing everything ending in annihilation.

Fact check history to know there were nations in the past refusing too live as God directed and they are no longer of this world! Scripture does not lie!

Read the following verse from Ezekiel to know wicked nations can and will be removed by God!

“Say to them, As I live, declares the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel?” (Ezekiel 33:11 ).

American has much to be thankful. God made America a powerful and wealthy nation.

Many have forgotten the favor and blessings that have been showered on America!

Our Nation In The 21st Century

As a nation, few countries respect America. Why?

Because America has become corrupt and sinful. Falling away from the teachings of God.

Christians need to stand up, speak out and get off the bandwagon!

It’s difficult to tell Christians from people of the world because the Church lives much like the world.

Pastors are coming out of their so-called closet declaring to be Gay! If these clergymen and women were real Christ followers, they would know the Bible teachings on homosexuality!

Read it for yourself, “”

How To Prevent Division In The Church

The life of the first Christians can be described as followers of Christ to become a new creation. It means to be reborn or change. If a person is a true believer and has indeed been reborn, they will not blend well in the world.

The new Church followers in Corinth were no different from Christians today with many conflicts! It was, for this reason, Paul wrote a letter to Corinth of what he had heard and his concerns.

Paul’s Letter To Corinth

Paul pleads with the young Church to become of one mind and purpose. He admonished them not to allow Satan to divide the Church reminding them of the sacrifice Jesus made for every Christian.

Paul was not pleased to learn that many within the Church professed to be followers of different prophets. Though these prophets were Jesus’ chosen, the discourse led to pride and a spirit of division within the Church.

Paul reminded the Corinth followers that no man is higher than the Word of God and that they should rally around the teachings of Jesus Christ and not his disciples.

I will not provide the names of the prophets in the Corinth Church; you can read 1 Corinthians 1:12 to learn more about Paul’s words to the Corinth Christians. The full meaning of his admonishment of the Corinth Christians was they should not be followers of man but followers of Jesus, the foundation of the Church, not man.

We have this same division within the Church today. Some are following clergy because they favor them over the Word of God, causing the Church of the 21st Century to be divided. We need not have the same beliefs or support the same minister but must follow the same views and foundation of the Church, which is Jesus Christ.

If Christians unite in one faith, there will be unity in the Church. Remain steadfast and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Paul taught freedom of choice unless it is forbidden by scriptures. Some believers in the Corinth Church believe eating the meat of animals used in pagan rituals to be sinful whereas, others thought it not a sin to eat such meat. However, scriptures teach we are free in Christ, but we must not abuse our freedom and be considerate of others. If a fellow believer thinks eating meat used in pagan rituals is sinful, then you must not encourage them to eat such meat. In doing so you have done wrong. Remember to always be led by love in your behavior towards others.

The Bible is the living words of God given to man by the Holy Spirit. The words of the Bible do not change because the world changes. God’s word remains the same even when the world does not.

In 1 Corinthians 1:10 Paul describes the people of Corinth as Christians following fads. Let’s begin by defining the word “Fad,” which refers to something that has no foundation, here today and gone tomorrow.

You may ask what do fads have to do with the Church today and Christian religion?

The Church today is much like the Church of Corinth. Christians jump on every new fad or bandwagon that comes along without giving any thought to the repercussions or if it is biblical, they just want to be in with the mainstream or social climbers of the moment!

The Church of Corinth had no real beliefs or foundation the Church jumped on any bandwagon or anything that sound good. Much some Churches today, where there is little or no foundation and nothing is consistent. Without consistency in the Church, there can be no cohesiveness of faith.

Inconsistency Within The Church

If a contradiction exists in the Church, religion, and belief in Jesus become a mass of confusion with most Christians forgetting or refusing to accept the foundation of the Church, which is Jesus Christ.

Paul reminds Christians in Corinth they are members of the family of God and share a unity that is more profound than the blood of brothers and sisters, their bond should be unbreakable.

The Church of the 21st Century should have an unshakable bond, not allowing favoritism for clergy to interfere with the relationship of Jesus Christ to the Church.

As Christians, we must not become like the Church of Corinth. We must be followers of Jesus, not man. Though you are allowed to have favorites, but not at the expense of your relationship with Christ Jesus.

It’s okay to be attracted to the personality of a Pastor, but you must remember Christ is the foundation of the Church and Christians must not allow the Church to become divided by favoritism.

The Church of Corinth had a reason to follow disciples because of favoritism. The early Church did not have the whole NT as we do today. Meaning the 21st Century Church has no excuse to allow the spirit of partisanship to cause division within the Church because we know the truth and have the complete NT.

Motivational Speakers

Today there are many motivational speakers today pretending to be speaking God’s word. I call them “False Teachers.”

The mighty “Dollar” is the only God they seek. It was the same in the Church of Corinth. False Teachings have always existed. God’s word may not make you feel warm and fuzzy but it is the Truth!

Most of the individuals are not teaching messages of substance to Christians. Their teaching is mostly feel-good words with weak content. The Messenger must never become more important than the Good News!

Paul teachings reminded the Church that a disciple need not have eloquent vocabularies or fancy words. The message should have content and be about accountability of sins against God.

Followers of Jesus do not need a sermon that offers persuasiveness or empowers followers of Christ to feel good. Sin matters and Christians need to hear the truth! Mankind is accountable to God and only God for their sin.

Pastors need to teach the Truth!

Paul was against feel-good teachings and told Christians that all teachers need is a strong message of God’s Word and nothing more.

It is advisable that you read 1 Corinthians 1:10-30 to understand Paul’s message to the Church of Corinth and why he teaches the Church Jesus is the foundation of the Church, not a man!

“Thou shalt have no other gods before Me” Exodus 20:2 and Deuteronomy 5:6. These are two of the key Ten Commandments given by God!

Things Every Christian Should Know

  1. It is Jesus who paid the penalty for our sin (Mark 10:45).
  2. Christ is who we should worship and glorify not man.

Paul wrote the letter in 1 Corinthians to the new Christians in the Church of Corinth because of division within the Church. But, there were other problems too, which I will mention in later in this brief article. Please read the text for the better understanding of what was happening among the new followers of Jesus.

Brief Look Ahead

Paul had planned to visit Cornith to deliver his message in person but had to cancel the visit due to other matters, but he did eventually visit Corinth a second and third time (1 Corinthians 2:1).

However, when Paul finally made the trip to Corinth (Acts 20:2,3). The Church did not take the advice in the letter written by Paul, much like 21st Century Church today. Corinth Christians ignored his warnings.

Corinth Under Roman Leadership

Cornith was under Rome and had become immoral. The city had a reputation as one of the most corrupt in the ancient world.

While reading 2 Corinthians v.1 the United States came to mind, like Cornith the United States is a cesspool of sexual immorality and idol worship making Churches in our time face pressure and conflict, similar to the city of Cornith.

In 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 the people of Corinth, like the world today believe if God comforts us our troubles will disappear without punishment. Sin leads to punishment when God’s Word is disobeyed!

So this belief could not be further from the truth? If God removes all our discomforts what reason would we have to obey the scriptures?

Removing conflicts without consequences will not provide the strength needed to help others with the same situation. With each struggle, we learn and gain the power to help someone else.

The more we suffer, the more God comforts us, but we also learn through our suffering. So if you feel overwhelmed allow God to control you!

Remember every trial endured will help you overcome and provide comfort to others in the same distress you conquer.

Suffering And How It Helps

You may ask how can your pain help others?

In suffering, you learn what you have yet to know. You discover God allowed you to overcome your time of conflict thru suffering. Had God removed the pain or conflict you would not have acquired the knowledge to help others or endured to build strength to fight another day!
